4 Stars Almost Perfect
TCM=Traditional Chinese Medicine and it works! Accupressure really helps my skin glow, amazing. (Just a couple of days of doing the accupressure exercises, I began receiving compliments like, “you’re skin has a beautiful texture, what have you been doing?”)
My qualms with the book? What do you think of using a Pig’s Foot Mask on your face? That’s right, the book talks of boiling and cutting a pigs foot which, refrigerated, you’re supposed to apply to your face over night!
Eating Bone Soup is also suggested in this book. Eating meat and/or killing animals just so I can look good just doesn’t sound right.
Besides, boiled bones to fight wrinkles? Staying away from meat is best. Meat has fats and these days hormones and chemicals that are bad for the skin, let alone everything else in the body. Insted, eat fruits and vegetables (drink lots of water too) and make your skin look gorgeous.

Steroid Nation Juiced Home Run Totals Anti aging Miracles and a Hercules in Every High School The Secret History of Americas True Drug Addiction

When science lets us fulfill our greatest desires, where do we stop? Should Barry Bonds’s startling achievements be listed in the record book with an asterisk because he has been accused of using steroids? Did performance-enhancing drugs play a role in Lance Armstrong’s seven Tour de France victories? And what does Arnold Schwarzenegger’s continued success say about the appeal of his steroid-fueled bodybuilding persona?
In the tradition of And the Band Played On, award-winning journalist Shaun Assael looks at America’s complicated love affair with steroids and how it has grown into the country’s—and perhaps the world’s—most insidious drug addiction.
Steroid Nation presents a chilling portrait of a nation enamored of artificially pumped-up success. Chronicling steroid use far beyond the headlines, it begins with the bodybuilders of Venice Beach in the 1970s and continues through to the NFL’s Raiders of the ’80s and ’90s and the baseball scandals of today. Assael also reveals the dramatic story of the godfather of the steroid movement: Dan Duchaine, who wrote The Original Underground Steroid Handbook in 1981.
Part detective story, part medical investigation, and part sociological examination, Steroid Nation is a groundbreaking work on the most compelling story in the sports world today.

4 Stars The problem is far more extensive than most realize…
It’s impossible to be a fan of sports these days and not be aware of the role that steroids play in the lives of athletes. If you listen to the athletes themselves, only a few rogue players get sucked up in the juice. But any rational human knows that the truth is something completely different. In the book Steroid Nation: Juiced Home Run Totals, Anti-aging Miracles, and a Hercules in Every High School: The Secret History of America’s True Drug Addiction, Shaun Assael looks at steroid use in America from 1981 to today. You can’t help but draw the conclusion that there is a vast conspiracy of silence that allows this to go on in professional and amateur sports.

Assael goes back to the days of the Underground Steroid Handbook and Dan Duchaine. Duchaine became known as “The Guru” due to his extensive knowledge and experimentation with performance enhancing drugs. Working out of the Gold’s Gym in Venice, he quickly became the go-to guy when bodybuilders wanted to get bigger and athletes needed to get stronger. While these drug sales were far from legal, the government wasn’t as motivated to prosecute as they are in today’s environment. But that doesn’t mean that all the players were staying out of jail. Duchaine did a couple of jail stints, and his life started to slide downhill at a rapid pace as he became addicted to some of his chemical concoctions. His destructive behavior also affected his relationships with women, as ones that stayed around more than a week or two usually ended up physically wrecked in the long run.
Duchaine isn’t the only story in Steroid Nation, however. There are other dealers who have become front-page names, like Victor Conte from BALCO. Dealers abound both locally and internationally as the technology becomes more available and the profit potential skyrockets. The government agents, such as Don Catlin and Terry Madden, are forever fighting a battle where the criminals are usually a step or two ahead of law enforcement and the science of detection. And then there are the athletes and celebrities… Lyle Alzado, Barry Bonds, Marion Jones, Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire, Sylvester Stallone, and many others. The gap between the public image and the actual behavior is incredibly vast. Nearly all deny there are any chemical shenanigans going on, even after positive tests. And even the assertions of being clean due to no positive test results rings hollow, as the chemicals used and masking agents employed change far faster than the testing labs can be updated. And if a new substance is out there that can’t be detected (think “Clear” and “Cream” from BALCO), then it may just be a matter of luck that the testing labs will ever find out.
Assael writes a good story with extensive documentation. Steroid Nation is a bit slow in the beginning, as the direction of the story seems to be a bit muddled. But once I got about 50 pages in, I was completely hooked. I know that steroids are a real problem in sports. But after reading this book, I’m of the opinion that far more people are using than testing results would indicate. And while the heads of sporting leagues (and even the fans) want to believe that there’s not a problem, they also don’t want to go back to the days when their stars looked normal, not “larger than life”.
Steroid Nation will open your eyes to the true nature and extent of the problem, as well as the hypocrisy of those who would want you to believe that they are eradicating steroids and winning the war.
5 Stars Must Read For Sports Fans.
Shaun Assael, in his book Steroid Nation*, does a great job of weaving the threads of the steroid story from its less than humble beginnings as part of the Venice Beach bodybuilding underground to the Tour de France scandal, use by NFL stars and Major League Baseball players and Olympic champions. Assael tells the story of how the Dan Duchaine, the original steroid guru, opened up Pandora’s Box when he published the Underground Steroid Handbook for Men and Women in 1982, and set in motion events that were responsible for - among other things - the BALCO Labs performance-enhancing drug scandal, the drug related deaths of professional wrestlers and the creation of the multi-billion dollar dietary supplement industry.
Steroid Nation* is a crazy story of mad geniuses, smugglers, drug dealers, underground gurus, self-taught chemists, deviants, narcissists, human guinea pigs, cheaters and liars. For people who have had their head in the sand with regard the steroids in sports scandal, Steroid Nation* will grab them by the scruff of their collective necks and shake them into awareness. The uninitiated will be amazed that a sociopath like Dan Duchaine could have had an influence on everything from the explosion of the use of steroids and human growth hormone to the creation of the drugs that were at the heart of the BALCO Labs scandal.
The amazing thing about how performance-enhancing drugs have affected the world of recreational activities and sport, is that there is a coherent string running through the story that connects the pioneers of the movement 30 years ago - Duchaine and his contemporaries; people that nobody has really ever heard of - to some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment of the past 10 years. A business that was as underground and as seedy as any seedy underground business could ever be, affected and then turned into something public, high-tech and lucrative.
Steroids, human growth hormone, creatine, androstendione, legal and illegal supplements have all been developed and used by people looking to get an edge, make some money and build a following. Steroid Nation* tells the story of how underground chemists looking for the next hot drug and supplement developed substances of dubious efficacy and that made people fortunes, while creating problems for the anti-doping movement.
Steroid Nation* is a great book, a book that tells a lot of stories and a book that every sports fan should read. If you don’t understand the fuss about steroids, this book will help put things into perspective. “The Juice” isn’t something that just came onto the scene, and athletes haven’t just started cheating over the past few years.
The current performance-enhancing drug scandal didn’t start with Marion Jones, Ben Johnson, BALCO Labs or Barry Bonds. The scandal started 30 years ago and has been growing the whole time, bubbling to the surface every once in a while. Read Shaun Assael’s book Steroid Nation* so that you can get up to speed and understand the story that’s been going on since the 1970s and that will continue to unfold in new and crazy ways as time goes by.
4 Stars lots of detail, some gaps on overview
The book details the growth of steroid use by US athletes. The topic is pretty intuitively understood so there is little point in a plot summary. Instead, critical comments follow.
What I liked:
*lots of primary research
*interesting topic
*well-written in terms of individual sections
What I disliked:
*seemed heavily dependant on where the author had concentrated his primary research. Read more like a data dump of who he had happened to interview than an overall view of the subject.
*Organization was a little hard to understand (sections). Also every few pages, a new location/content thread would be introduced. I know the author wanted to weave a story that was not 100% connected. And the textual use of a location header was an attempt to make it palatable to the reader. But it still didn’t quite work.
*Lack of pictures. There are no photos even though this is a nonfiction book about a drug that creates interesting physiques and although the book emphasizes personalities. Other books on this subject (Balco book, Canseco book) do have pictures. The lack of pictures is cheap and minimizes the value of the work. In contrast, the cover phote is stunningly eye-catching especially in concert with the title. The obvious implication is that some publisher/editor beancounter decided to skimp on content and spend on marketing, figuring he could drive sales at mega-bookstores. Well, Amazon reviews are a place to combat that behavioral tendancy. (And rating critical reviews as not recommended is a way to fight for that tendancy!)
*Also would have liked it if he hunted down and talked a bit more with the “other side” (people who justify the use of the drugs). At least present a bit more detail of the viewpoint alluded to by Arnold (adults making decisions of own).
Neutral, but noted:
*Author has citations in the end, but has no notemarks in the text. I guess this is also a marketing thing as some people will put down a book with footnotes. (Like the famous quote that popular books on mathematics lose half their audience with each equation shown.) It’s actually a nice compromise to include the endnotes in this alternate fashion. Good upgrade on Woodward who did not use endnotes at all in his first 2 Bush books.
5 Stars Say It Aint So Joe? or Barry, or Floyd or Marion, or Arnold or Hulkster…
Shaun Assaels book steroid nation is a powerful history of how performance enhancing drugs have swept our nation. He gives fascinating details about how steroids were used as early as the 1960’s by Americans. His detailed look at Venice Steroid Guru Dan Duchaine is scary at times. Being a powerlifter and an avid reader of all of the muscle magazines I found this book to be the most accurate portrayal of what’s really going on in sports, both on the field, and the cover ups going on off the field. It’s a MUST READ for all sports fans. So the next time some one asks you “do you think that guy is on steroids?” You’ll know the answer is probably yes!!!
4 Stars It really depends …
If you are a sport fan, then it can be a fun book to you; but if you recognize the names of Anavar, Dianabol, Deca-durabolin, Clenbuterol.. then it will be a very interesting the book to read.

3 Stars Ageless Body, Timeless Mind
Some very interesting information and concepts in this book, however, I did not close this book feeling more enlightened that before reading the book. If you have a strong religous background, you probably know most of the concepts in this book although you may increase your terminology on subjects such as quantum healing and ayurveda. The book is good for anyone who wants has a negative view of aging and wants to improve the quality of their life as they age.
1 Star New-age recycling.
How should I put it?
Take care of yourself.
Your body might last a bit longer.
Your mind might last a bit longer.
Does it have to be presented as mystical ancient knowledge?
4 Stars Bought This Book for My Father
I bought this book for my 82 year old Father after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He told me the book was one of the best he had ever read. My father was a highly educated, intelligent man that gained inspiration from this book. I am grateful to Mr. Chopra for this.
3 Stars Light, airy, positive but not profound
If you believe in kharma, this book will help you create good kharma. If you don’t believe in kharma, it’s basically a book on how to create harmony in your life and exist in a positive way. Hence, three stars. If you want a light positive read, and some helpful advice on how to conduct your life in a positive way, try it. If you want something profound, this isn’t it.
5 Stars Ageless Body Timeless Mind
wonderful source material. I bought and read it cover to cover 10 years ago and recently purchased it again as a gift for a friend who just turned 60. I do believe this to be a timeless book and as a psychotherapist recommend it to my clients.

4 Stars SAizen Injectable HGH compared to Ghr Platinum.
I have read most of Dr Klatz boks concerning human growth hormone and have tried many products over the past 7 years. I have used the injectable HGH called saizen i purchased from International Antiaging Systems online cheapest and most reliable source, and found it to be amazing stuff. For best results i normally use the injections every other night and on the odd nights i use ghr platinum antiaging formula available on Amazon. The ghr platinum works almost as well as the injectable. I tried doing injections every night and it caused mild side effects i didnt like and found i got zero side effects doing the injections on odd nights. When i run out of the expensive injectable hgh i just take the ghr platiinum every night as it is almost as potent plus i dont have to do the needles. The ghr platinum is the most potent capsule formula i have found as i have tried em all. Also use DHEA as it increases testtosterone. The GHR store online sells the platinum and dhea.
4 Stars Reduce impact of Aging
Excellent book, good resource for understanding aging and how to minimize aging impact.
5 Stars The Only Anti-Aging Reference Book You’ll Need
There are 6 sections to this wonderful book.
Section One deals with the theories of aging and ends by delving into the various body systems that are affected by the aging process.
Section Two goes into the endocrine system. Entire chapters are devoted to growth hormone, melatonin, oestrogen, testosterone and thyroid hormone. The authors give us the facts on how these hormones affect or are affected by the aging process. Supplementation is mentioned, but the authors made no attempt to “sell” anything.
Section Three deals with nutritional supplements. The list is quite exhaustive and make a very good reference for anyone considering supplementation. Here again, the reviews are quite balanced. No “miracle” nutrients and contraindications are mentioned as well.
Section Four deals with lifestyle factors in anti-aging. Topics include diet, detox, exercises, anti-stress tips, skin care and protection from pollutants. A lot of unsurprising, unsensational yet sound advice here.
Section Five gives us insight into what some health gurus do to stay fit and healthy. It won’t be easy for any of us holding a fulltime job in the city to follow. There is also mention of stem cell research and other cool stuff that will be coming our way soon.
Section Six provides a glossary and some references as well as a directory of anti-aging resources.
The greatest thing about this book, is that it is “scientifically” written by 2 doctors who live up to their professional training. Aimed only at informing and educating the reader, it provides nothing sensationally pro this or anti that. If you can only afford one book on this topic, buy this one.
5 Stars The Best Anti-Aging Book I’ve Seen
This is the best all-around book on anti-aging that I have seen. It functions as an encyclopedia of food supplements including research findings, includes descriptions of just about every theory of aging, has chapters devoted to male and female hormone supplementation, and gives practical lifestyle advice to help you live longer.
5 Stars Thorough and interesting guide to longevity

The Cardiologists Wifes Chocolate Too Diet No Sugar No Fat and Luscious
The Cardiologists Wifes Chocolate Too Diet No Sugar No Fat and Luscious

Unsweetened cocoa is a blockbuster drug, THE most powerful antioxidant, and *required* in this stunning new diet designed by noted cardiologist Dr. Robert Schneider and his wife Joyce, an inventive Heart Smart cook. With 29 times more antioxidants than broccoli, unsweetened cocoa can: hyper-boost your antioxidant levels; slow the aging process; lower your blood pressure; help prevent cancer, strokes, heart attacks, diabetes, and complications of diabetes…AND produce that endorphinny good feeling (relaxing artery walls, increasing a sense of optimism like a mood altering drug) that helps you stick to a diet, lose the weight which overwhelmingly causes those diseases. But how to put cocoa and Healthy New Food products together? Cook, bake, and prepare ALL food in a whole new way? This diet will show you how. Give you inventive “hybrid recipes” that are fun as well as healthy. (Luscious Pumpkin Pie with No sugar, No fat, No Cholesterol; brownies — the same! — with more nutrients than most meals.) You will learn new ways to prepare food that will get you thin and healthy permanently, with greater ease and delight than you ever dreamed possible. And surprise: even with this diet’s delicious meals — shrimp scampi, chicken stroganoff, Tex Mex, no-yolks quiche & gorgeous pasta, for example — you may start seeing the meal as the cover act and dessert as the headliner!
User Ratings and Reviews
5 Stars This is funny *&* full of the best, newest health advice
My doctor recommened this, and said a lot of doctors are recommending it. This book is fantastic, and a shock. Who knew that “fat free evaporated milk” has as much sugar as a candy bar!? I still see “diet” recipes that say “substitute sugar with honey, chopped dates, ripened bananas” — “ripened” just means the starch breaking down into sugar, and “natural sugar” is still sugar! The authors also help us to understand what’s bogus, or just plain wrong even among well-intentioned “diet” recipes. When I got through the book’s first chapter I thought WOW that’s why no diet has worked for me, or was so hard, or I lost the weight & then gained it back. I’m also thrilled at the thought of fudge sauce on sliced fruit & walnuts every night. I feel so good!
THIS is a diet!? But it works, it’s funny and has the most up to date health/nutrition information. Also, since it’s both low carb AND low fat, it will be easy to make into a life program.
5 Stars Best diet book ever.
If you really want to lose weight and improve your health, this is the best diet for the new century. No wonder none of the old diets worked! I can’t believe how much I’ve lost in the month since I started. Ten pounds without cravings! That’s because of the cocoa, which helps you go longer without feeling hungry. It’s also because of this diet’s “makeover” approach to all recipes for all meals. It uses much healthier sugar-free, fat-free, new food products in many of its delicious recipes to create bigger, more filling portions that are still low cal.
It’s also the first low carb and low fat diet I’ve ever heard of. Also valuable is the new health and nutrition information in Parts One & Three of the book. In the past, I’ve failed at so many diets, not realizing that their claims to “no sugar” & low fat were bogus. This book has a whole section on “hidden sugars in your diet recipes,” and I was shocked. That’s why I wasn’t losing weight!
If you really seriously want to get thin, stay thin, and improve your health, this book is the best.
1 Star The Cardiologist’s Wife’s Chocolate Too! Diet: No Sugar, No Fat & Luscious
I think the book was poorly written. I think an editor would have been nice - LOTS of typos in the recipes. We tried several of the dessert recipes (cheesecake and apple crisp) and threw them away. They were awful!!! Although the ideas in the book are good, the recipes are not and too much Splenda is used. Some of the recipes could do without the Splenda and still taste good.
1 Star Most disappointed ever in a diet book.
This is the most disappointed I have ever been in a diet book. It is entirely too restrictive on what you can and can’t eat and the meals are too complicated for anyone who has a life! The chocolate sauce is the only helpful thing I got out of it.
5 Stars Soo love this diet!
This diet is awesome! I’ve really stuck to it - a first — & lost 16 pounds in 7 weeks with no cravings, thanks to the cocoa which I was surprised to learn is the best antioxidant. How great is that!! It’s also the first diet I know of that’s *both* low carb AND low fat. There’s a 21-day meal plan and the recipes are wonderful, really inventive. “Substitute THIS ingredient for THAT, & THIS for THAT.” The authors teach you how to make every meal & snack healthier.
There’s a section on latest findings in health & nutrition that’s downright exciting, the information is so new. My favorite there is “Amazing Facts about Your Heart and Blood Sugar,” and my favorite recipes (so far) are the New Age Brownies, No Yolks Quiche, Shrimp Scampi, Tex Mex Chicken & the Nova Scotia omelet.
It’s also nice that the authors explain everything in a warm way, even include diet humor and an occasional diet cartoon. They don’t believe that dieting should be such a grim, complicated business - and that makes me feel good.
You’ll love this book!
Brain Fitness Anti Aging to Fight Alzheimers Disease Supercharge Your Memory Sharpen Your Intelligence De Stress Your Mind Control Mood Swings and Much More

Robert Goldman holds a Ph.D. in steroid biochemistry, founded the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and is an adviser to the Journal of Longevity Research. In Brain Fitness, he makes a valid point that’s been proven by recent studies: your brainpower, like the muscles of your body, can be expanded through exercise. And with the life expectancy of humans nearly doubling in the past century, he says, paying attention to your cognitive skills and taking steps to ward off Alzheimer’s is becoming more and more vital.
Through various self-quizzes, charts, and self-tests, Brain Fitness helps you determine what state your brain is in now–and helps you boost your memory power accordingly. Some of the information is surprising (such as that over-the-counter painkillers like ibuprofen have been shown to inhibit brain function and memory with long-term use). Some other parts, such as the section on how chronic stress can inhibit your health, has shown up in all of the numerous anti-aging books of late. But for baby boomers interested in learning about what the aging process is doing to their memories–and what they can do to boost their brain power–Brain Fitness is a good place to start.

4 Stars A good reference book on the subject
The book quality is somewhat erratic from chapter to chapter. But, there is a lot of valuable information in it. This is especially true regarding all the micro nutrients, vitamins, herbal supplements that are good to maintain your cognitive skills. Through the years I find myself referring to this book very often. Although the book was written a few years ago, it appears very current.
5 Stars Fellow physician/”brain-author” agrees with premise of this.
As more and more research suggests, there are ways that, by altering your lifestyle and intake, as well as your basic brain activity, you can possibly curtail what we traditionally think of as an “inevitable” aging process of the brain and its function. Dr. Goldman reviews many of these tools available, a number of which in fact, (despite other reviewer comments to the contrary), DO have peer-reviewed scientific studies to back them up. May I suggest “The Care and Feeding of Your Brain” as a companion guide to Goldman’s book to provide another perspective on how you can affect brain aging, and for a more general view of brain optimization right now, before aging…My congratulations to Dr. Goldman and colleagues on a book well done and easy to read!…All the best…Kenneth Giuffre’MD, author, “The Care and Feeding of Your Brain”
1 Star Disappointing, discouraging, and mildly offensive
The author needs to determine who his audience is. The book seems to be aimed at young people seeking to achieve and maintain ’super mind power’. The title (anti-aging) appeals to those of us who are experiencing ‘brain fog’ and want it to stop. While the tests will confirm or rebut our suspicions that something is wrong, the author suggests only the same-old home remedies - diet, vitamins and herbs, destress - that I have been using for years already. The mental excersizes are a bad joke - things I used to love doing when my mind was functional are now proposed as excersizes - which I couldn’t do if my life depended upon it. There is nothing suggested in the way of medical treatment or what to tell a doctor to convince them that ’something is wrong’. Many things I have read about, found to be helpful and consider somewhat more cutting-edge - like oxygen therapy or the debate regarding the danger in dental fillings - are not even mentioned. Human growth hormone is dismissed in one sentance. If I believed this book, I would give up all hope.
1 Star You need cognitive enhancement if you accept this.
This book has value. It will test your IQ. If you accept it as authoritative on cognition and memory, then you may need cognitive enhancement. It appears to be more for ego enhancement. Look for the authror’s contributions to the field in peer-reviewed journals.
5 Stars Extremely educational and informational!
This book completely changed the way I looked at nutrition for the brain. It really makes you re-think your view on your personal self and lets you know that you are capable of so much more than what you’re doing. Dr. Goldman did an outstanding job relating his personal goals and the goals of other prominent people is society. He brings to life the realities of “famous people are just like ordinary people.” This book definitely changed the way I look at growing old. Age is inevitable, but aging is not.

The Anti Aging Plan The Nutrient Rich Low Calorie Way of Eating for a Longer Life The Only Diet Scientifically Proven to Extend Your Healthy Years
User Ratings and Reviews
5 Stars The only proven way to extend life
Dr. Walford was a pioneer in the field of extending life via caloric restriction. Any person who performs objective medical research can confirm that there have been many legitimate medical studies that have shown that caloric restriction is the only proven way to extend life in mammals. The evidence supporting this is compelling. The challenge is how to implement this concept in everyday life, particularly if you enjoy eating food, as this reviewer does. It may be difficult for the average active adult to follow a severely restricted diet for a prolonged period of time. However, Dr. Walford’s book contains some good recipes, which may be sufficient to put his research and concepts into dietary reality for many people. Dr. Walford’s book is a well-written book and worth reading. It is not a fad diet, by any means. It is possible to use the information in this book as a motivator to eat fewer calories and, just as important, to eat more nutritionally dense food (e.g., whole grains, fresh vegetables, beans) as one grows older and as one’s metabolism slows down. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject. You can learn a lot by reading it. It is unfortunate that Dr. Walford died of Lou Gehrig’s disease. I am sure he would have continued his valuable research, which he enjoyed sharing with others.
4 Stars Concise and Factual
This is a very intriguing book and offers a lot of insight into how our bodies work and what is needed to make them work.
1 Star THIS IS NOT AN ‘ULTRA LOW’ CALORIE PLAN!
I ordered this book, along with the companion title “The Longevity Diet”. I really wanted to learn more about high nutrition foods, and how to build a nutritious eating plan on a reduced calorie diet (800 -1200 calories). I was INCREDIBLY disappointed to learn, upon reciept, that the basic diet is built around 1,800 calories per day. At my height, build & goal weight, I would GAIN WEIGHT on this plan! I am returning these books… they are of absolutely no use to me.
5 Stars The best of the CR books
The Anti Aging Plan is, in my opinion, the first book to read on the subject of Caloric Restriction (CR).
The basic idea of CR is that you can live much longer if you design a diet for yourself which is low in calories, but provides all of the necessary nutrition.
This book presents the essential facts, without getting bogged down in technical details. Anyone who wants to maximize their lifespan, or lose weight in a healthy way, can benefit from “The Anti Aging Plan.”
Roy Walford’s other book, “Beyond the 120 year diet” provides more technical data, which some people will want, but people to whom I’ve given copies of that book tend to be “blinded by the science.”
Lisa Walford’s book “The Longevity Diet” adds some interesting insights, but doesn’t give enough information on it’s own to get you started.
If you adopt the CR lifestyle, you’ll certainly want to read all three. You’ll also want to download the free software from [….] .
Personally, I’ve followed this diet plan for four years. I’ve lost 50 pounds, and improved my cholesterol from 240 to 151. It isn’t easy, but it works.
4 Stars Great Health Recipes
I agree with another reviewer that the recipes in this book are a GREAT resource. I cannot however give this book 5 stars, because the scientific introduction is a bit too weak, and even stretches the facts a bit. Readers need realism not rose-coloured scientific preaching. The other reviewer recommends purchasing Beyond the 120 year diet as a companion book to get the scientific details, but there you get the same over-optimistic interpretation of the facts. I would recommend instead the new book by Lisa Walford and Brian Delaney, The Longevity Diet. If you read The Longevity Diet, you will get a realistic picture of the state of anti-ageing research, and you will get a lot of interesting personal stories from people on the diet offering extremely useful tips for staying on the diet - something Roy Walford seemed to think wasn’t necessary. Then you can turn to the recipes in the Anti-Aging Plan!
